Bilingual Peer Support Specialist (Spanish/English) – Manhattan
Help adults in NYC facing mental health and recovery challenges by providing non-clinical peer support in a mission-driven, supportive team.
Location: New York City, NY (In Person — Manhattan
Pay: $20–$23/hour (based on certification level & experience)
Schedule: Full-time and Part-time | Monday–Friday (daytime/business hours)
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred (not required) — Spanish speakers will be prioritized

Currently hold NYCPS or NYCPS-P, OR
Completed all 13 APS Core Courses and are actively applying for NYCPS-P through NYPSCB (proof required prior to onboarding)

Overview
Make a meaningful difference in your community by using lived experience to support individuals living with mental health and/or substance use challenges. Peer Support Specialists use empathy, recovery-oriented support, and connection to resources to help individuals build stability, hope, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide peer-led emotional support that promotes hope and recovery
Share lived experience appropriately to support participants in achieving their goals
Support de-escalation using basic, non-clinical crisis support strategies
Help individuals identify goals and build coping skills
Connect individuals to community resources and recovery supports
Collaborate with the care team and contribute peer perspective
Maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Uphold ethical guidelines, boundaries, and confidentiality
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Lived experience related to mental health recovery, substance use recovery, and/or supporting a loved one
NYCPS/NYCPS-P OR APS 13 Core Courses completed + actively applying for NYCPS-P (proof required prior to onboarding)
Ability to work in person in Bronx, Brooklyn, and/or Manhattan (matched based on borough preference and availability)
Ability to complete onboarding requirements (background check, etc.)
Basic computer/smartphone skills
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred (not required) — Spanish speakers prioritized
